A wonderful floating space of modern glam, clean lines, brass branch lamps, an oversized starburst mirror full of texture . . .

Yup, this space just makes me happy!

Hope you all have a great day indeed!

Someday soon I should have the new site up and running! I hope. . .

ABC Carpet and Home

20120923-054607.jpgGuess where I was a couple of weeks ago? Visiting my fabulous sister in the equally fabulous NYC! With three days to myself, I had only one thing on my agenda. . .ABC Carpet & Home!! Lindsey lives in the West Village, so I had the bright idea to walk on up to 19th Street. . . The walk was pretty long, but the trip was worth it!

20120923-054651.jpgWalls of hide rugs greeted me in ABC Carpet! The prices were all in the $300-$500 range. We all know a good dealer at Metrolina that can beat the price, but maybe not the selection20120923-054739.jpgPillows and blankets stacked 10 rows high! 20120923-054751.jpgDivine pillows and fabric by Eskayel. . .I have samples at home I ordered from Walnut Wallpaper, but nothing like this!20120923-054807.jpgA brass bike that made my mouth water it was so divine!20120923-054826.jpgAt this weeks Trina Turk event in Charlotte, NC, she displayed these exact pendants in one of her stores!20120923-054847.jpgAll of the elevator doors have distinct themes. . .this one is my favorite by far!20120923-054903.jpgNothing less than fabulous: A coffee table made of reclaimed wood and liquid chrome legs! 20120923-054927.jpgMarble Kitchen Island on Vintage 1890 Machinist Base-$12,500.00 The perfect historic island for a modernist kitchen. 20120923-055014.jpgJonathan Robshaw bedding steals the show.20120923-055138.jpgNo doubt this is classier than your average garden stool.20120923-055226.jpgRalph Lauren makes a strong impact and I know I want to live on this floor!20120923-055239.jpgIt’s all in the details! Exposed nail heads add rustic charm to an elegant linen chair.

All in all, I spent over 4 hours visiting 5 floors and was inspired more than I could begin to share with you.

What inspires you?

New Platform, Same Sweet Home Charlotte

Sweet Home Charlotte is moving. . . to Blogger! While I have loved my time blogging away at WordPress, the new platform will allow me to accept advertisers and buttons from businesses that are “sweet” to me! It should also be easier to expand my network of friends, family and followers. . . or at least I am counting on it!

The new blogger address is  www.sweethomecharlotte.blogspot.com or click  Sweet Home Charlotte to check out my sweet new look. It wont be long until the transition is complete, I  will be transferring my domain name in the next day or two. I hope that all of my loyal friends and followers will sign up to follow me at the new platform.

The best part about switching to Blogger is being able to get the look that I want, for a price I can afford. I hired the fabulous Ms. Alison, writer of the blog Long Distance Loving and owner of Polish Your Blog, to help update Sweet Home Charlotte’s look, and I cant wait to share it with you. Learn more about Alison at:

See you on the new platform!

Cheers,

Taylor

Where Am I Now: 416 Kingston Avenue!

In 2006, long time Dilworth residents, Kathy and Rob Wilder chose 416 Kingston Avenue as the perfect home to raise their growing family. This historic home, built in 1926, is located on the desirable “dead-end” section of Kingston Avenue. The “beautifully appointed home” boasts more than 6 coal-burning fireplaces, inlaid wood floors, original gas fixtures, brass fittings and incredibly high ceilings. The stately dining room has floor-to-ceiling landscape murals that are rumoured to have once been throughout the house.  Kathy, an interior designer, has beautifully furnished the enitire home, putting a fresh spin on traditional living. A must see,  416 Kingston Avenue is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Lucite Hardware: A Clear Beauty

*our upstairs laundry room doors.

Celerie Kemble says that every room should have a touch of lucite and we know she can't be wrong. After spotting quite a bit of lucite hardware in her books, and just about everywhere, I became just a wee bit obsessed with its lux factor. I searched around on Pinterest the other day to share some pictures of my favorite ways to accent your abode with the timeless material.

Just one more reason to drool on over to 1st Dibbs. A pair of Peter Hamburger for KNoll Wall Lamps USA 1960. Lucite Stems and Brass Hardware.

In search of my very own piece of high style, I followed a lead in Domino Magazine and contacted Claudia at The Paris Apartment. Beside’s being an expert Parisian shopper and boutique owner, Claudia’s company The Paris Apartment offers custom lucite hardware to fit everyone’s needs.  Completely inspired by the hardware I spotted in design magazine’s everywhere, I asked her to custom make door pulls to dress up my humdrum laundry room doors.

Our new door pulls are so amazing, I almost forget what’s behind them. . .
